TO CARTHAGE THEN I CAME

The project To Carthage then I came stems from a physical action long investigated by Romeo Castellucci, an ancient gesture that came from a tradition of prayers and rituality.

From a very first version of this performance called Senza Titolo, which was presented at the Triennale of Milan, the crucial contribution of composer Scott Gibbons, has radically transformed the performance in the direction of a concert for golden pipes.

The new project had its debut in May 2026, retains the nature of a repeated action offered to the audience as a perpetual motion, but multiplies the devices and the sound dimension. Six golden pipes, of different lengths like the pipes of a dismantled organ, are hung horizontally in a large, bare room.

The action start as a slow, growing rhythm, and after a few minutes the pace increases. This gesture, multiplied, generates a layered soundscape: the sounds overlap and intertwine into a telluric symphony, composed by Scott Gibbons, offering the audience a constantly changing sound and a deepening physical experience.
